Chronic, debilitating joint pain can affect every area of your life. If joint pain is preventing you from working, exercising, taking part in hobbies, or spending time with family or friends, our chiropractor can help. Our chiropractor in Glendale can provide radial shockwave therapy for joint pain—a safe, noninvasive, and effective treatment for joint pain.

What is Radial Shockwave Therapy?

Radial shockwave therapy is a safe, noninvasive medical treatment that uses ultrasound technology to transmit high-energy soundwaves into the body’s tissues in strategic areas. These soundwaves stimulate the body’s natural healing processes and can encourage new cell growth. New cell growth replaces old, weak, or damaged cells that are causing pain or other problems.

What Kinds of Joint Pain Benefit from Radial Shockwave Therapy?

While radial shockwave therapy can treat any type of chronic or recurring joint pain, it is most effective on:

  • Shoulder pain
  • Knee pain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles tendinopathy

Who is a Good Candidate for Radial Shockwave Therapy?

You are a good candidate for radial shockwave therapy if you are in good general health, not pregnant, and aren’t suffering from any existing health conditions that could be affected by the shockwave equipment. This includes nerve or circulation disorders, metabolic bone conditions, and bone disorders. Our chiropractor will do a full health evaluation to determine if you’re a good candidate.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

When you visit our chiropractor for your first radial shockwave therapy appointment, you will lie fully clothed on an examination table. If the treatment area is normally covered by clothing, you may need to change into a medical gown. Our chiropractor will use a machine with a small, handheld wand that looks like an ultrasound wand. She will apply the wand to the target area and administer soundwaves by moving the wand in small, circular motions. Each treatment can take between 15 and 30 minutes, and treatment can be administered once per week for four to five weeks. Most people experience no discomfort or negative side effects of treatment and can immediately resume their regular daily activities.
